The List Computers Functionality for PC Inventory

Purpose: To view an alphabetical list of computers that have been inventoried (and synchronized with Refresh PC Software/Hardware Inventory).

Prerequisites: Login script updated with getsysinfo.exe.

Steps:

  1. Click the PC Inventory link on the top toolbar.
  2. Click the List Computers link.

  3. A list of computers now appears.
    • The functionality on this screen is as follows:
      • Select the print icon  to print the current list.
      • Select the Excel button to export the list to Excel.
      • Select the view icon  under the View Current column to view all the specific information regarding that computer.
      • Select the view icon  under the View Baseline column to view the configuration of the baseline.
Note: The View icon shows the following information: Computer, software, processor, memory, BIOs, system, display, monitor, printer, Tcp IP, Engines, Disks, and Devices information.
      • For internal End User computers that have Windows XP as an operating system (with the appropriate remote control permissions), the Launch Remote Desktop icon  can be used to establish a remote control session on the PC. Clicking this option requires a small Microsoft component to be installed on the admin user's PC (the first time it is run).
Note: The Remote Desktop icon uses the Microsoft Remote Desktop application to provide remote control.  Use of this is included with the Microsoft XP operating system (i.e. there are no per computer license fees for using this).  This makes this option for Remote Control VERY affordable, though it is limited since it cannot provide remote control to other operating systems.
