How to create a customized default Request template

Purpose: User defined fields automatically display in the default Request template that comes with the software and therefore cannot be disabled.  If you do not want any user defined fields to display in the default Request template but want them to be available for other Request templates, then you need to create a customized Request template.

Prerequisite: Admin Users must have "Manage Requests Form Templates" checked in their respective Role.

Steps:

  1. Follow the steps in the Related Articles to create a customized default template.  Use something like "Default Request Template" to name your template.
  2. When a new Request is added from the Admin interface, you can choose to display a default template:
    • Browse to Admin->Setup->Requests->Display Settings.
    • In the "Default Request Template in Admin View" list, select the desired template.
    • Browse to Admin->Permissions->Users.
    • Click the Edit icon for the first user, scroll down to "Default Request Template" and select the desired template.  Repeat this step as necessary for each applicable Admin Users.
  3. When a new Request is added from the Public interface, you can choose to display a default template:
    • Browse to Admin->Setup->Requests->Display Settings.
    • In the "Default Request Template in Public View" list, select the desired template.
