How To Configure a Default Home Page
Purpose: How To Configure a Default Home Page
Prerequisites: Novo Knowledge Base 4.8 or later
Configuration Steps:
- Browse to Admin>Setup>Knowledge Base>Settings
- Scroll down to the Home Page section
- Check Enable Home Page
- For Home Page Type select Default Article or Home Page
Default Article Configuration
- When you select Default Article, all of the settings but Default Article ID become un-editable.
- Place the Article ID of an Article that you wish to use for a Default Article, and that article will display first whenever someone visits the Knowledge Base.
Home Page Configuration
- When you select Home Page for the Home Page Type, all of the settings but Default Article ID become *editable*.
- Check the Tabs that you wish to display on the Home Page
- Company News - An HTML area where you can post updates and "Company News".
- Recently Added Articles - This will display the most recently added articles that the viewer is allowed to see.
- Recently Updated Articles - This will display the most recently updated articles that the viewer is allowed to see
- Most Popular Articles - This will display the articles with the highest Hit counts that the viewer is allowed to see.
- Most Helpful Articles - This will display the articles with the highest Rating values that the viewer is allowed to see. NOTE: Keep in mind that this list and the Most Popular Articles list can also be displayed as links in the Top Menu Bar
- Default number of rows in Home Page Article Tabs - This value will determine the number of rows globally for each Home Page tab.
To Edit the Home Page
- Click Admin, Management, then Home Page.
- This opens an HTML Editor
- Edit and save content here as necessary; content entered here will display when visitors browse to the Public URL of the Knowledge Base.
- Click Home Page Articles to preview the Home Page.
What happens now? ....
If the Default Article is Configured
- When an Admin user logs into the software, and their start page is Knowledge Base, they are shown the article that matches the Default Article ID in Knowledge Base Settings.
- When an End user logs into the software, they are shown the article that matches the Default Article ID in Knowledge Base Settings.
- Unauthenticated visitors will also see the article that matches the Default Article ID in Knowledge Base Settings.
If the Home Page is Configured
- When an Admin user logs into the software, and their start page is Home Page, they are shown the Home Page with Tabs.
- When an End user logs into the software, they are shown the Home Page with Tabs.
- Unauthenticated visitors will also see the Home Page with Tabs.
- When a user starts typing in the Knowledge Base Search field the Auto Complete feature will provide a dropdown of Articles with matching Titles and pre-existing search Terms from the Novo Search Log.
