Create and Use Article Content Templates

Purpose: Content template files are used to provide pre-formatted templates of articles.

Prerequisites: The Admin User must have "Article Templates" Role permission enabled to create and edit templates.

To create, edit or delete article templates, click Admin->Setup->Knowledge Base->Article Templates. The Templates page will open presenting the list of available article templates.

To create a new article template:

  1. Type the name for your new template in the File Name box.
  2. Click the  button.
  3. The list will refresh showing your new template.
  4. Any HTML files added to the Content Templates directory appear in the templates pull-down list on the Add Article form.

To edit an existing template:

  1. Click the Edit icon to the left of the Templates list.
  2. This will open a separate window wtih the Telerik RadEditor.
  3. Use this tool to modify the content of your article template.

To create a new article with the help of templates:

  1. The click the Add Sub-Articles button.
  2. On the Properties tab enter the Short Title and any additional information.
  3. Click the  Content tab to open the Telerik RadEditor.
  4. On the Editor Toolbar click the Template Manager button.


  5. Select the desired article template then click the Insert button.
    Note:  Beginning in version 5.0 the option to select an article template from the article information page (Properties tab) has been removed.  You must open the Telerik RadEditor to select a template.

To delete an existing template:

  1. Click in the check-box to the left of the template's name and then click the Delete button on the left of the header row .
