Setting Article Permissions

Purpose: To allow an Admin User to change the status of an Article so it can be viewed from the Public interface.  When an Article is created, the default status of an Article is "Disabled."  Disabled Articles are not published and therefore not viewable from the Public interface until its status is changed to "Enabled." 

Note: Only users with Change Article Status permission can change the access, status, and other article permissions.
 
Prerequisites: An Admin user must be assigned a Role for at least one Group.

Steps:

  1. Click on Admin-->Permissions->Roles  
  2. Click the edit_icon icon to the left of the Role that will be assigned to the Admin User. 
  3. Scroll down to the Knowledge Base section and check "Change Articles Status" then click the Save button. 



  4. To change the status of an Article so that it can be viewed from the Public interface, browse to Articles and select the appropriate Article. 
    • Click the Edit button on the Article Options Toolbar. 
    • On the Properties tab scroll down to Access and select the appropriate accces from the drop-down list.
    • For Status click the drop-down arrow and select "Enabled" then click the Save button.
