Step 5 - Upgrade PC Inventory from Versions 4.5 or Prior

Set up PC Inventory for versions later than 4.5
In the 4.6 update to the Novo Solutions PC Inventory module, there were enhancements that take advantage of Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) in order to acquire system data for Windows Vista and prior operating systems. In the previous version of PC Inventory, Vista was not supported due to changes in how the operating system handles user profiles.
After you have upgraded to version 4.6 or later, you will need to make a few changes with regard to the pc inventory file system and database tables. Please see the directions below:

Setup File System and Login Script for PC Inventory
    1. Browse to NovoRoot
    2. Go into NovoRoot/app and copy pc_inventory to the Novo root
    3. Domain login script considerations:
      • If you were using the pc_invent.bat file for network login in Novo Version 4.5 or earlier, see the PC Inventory Scripting article as you will need to modify its contents.
      • If you simply added the command in the pc_invent.bat  file to your existing login script(s), please remove it and use the commands in the PC Inventory Scripting article.
See the Setup PC Inventory File System article below for more information.
